Student Life

Residential Life

Belonging to a Home Away From Home

At New Hampton School, residential life is about so much more than just a place to stay; it’s where students discover a second home. Living on campus offers students the chance to build lifelong friendships, learn independence, and experience a strong, inclusive community that promotes personal growth. Here, students thrive in an environment that balances academic pursuits with life skills, preparing them for college and the world beyond. With guidance from dedicated faculty and peers, boarding life fosters a unique sense of belonging, resilience, and readiness for whatever comes next.

Teachers as Family

At New Hampton, we intentionally cultivate a family-like atmosphere within each house. Faculty house parents and student proctors live alongside students, creating a close-knit community where everyone is genuinely known and supported. Living with faculty means students get to know them personally—their families, their stories, even their new pets! Faculty, in turn, get to know each student well. They can quickly recognize when someone needs extra support and collaborate with other resources on campus to ensure that every student has what they need to feel confident and capable.

A Space of Your Own

Most rooms on campus are thoughtfully designed doubles, with careful attention given to pairing roommates who will complement and inspire one another. Each student is provided with a twin bed, a desk, and ample closet space, creating a personal space within a shared home.

Each residence hall offers laundry facilities, bathrooms, and a cozy common room—a shared space much like a family living room—where students come together to unwind, enjoy late-night snacks, play games, and watch movies. These common areas are the heart of dorm life, bringing friends together and building memories that last a lifetime.

Living & Learning Around the Clock

At New Hampton School, we create a dynamic, 24/7 campus environment where living and learning are fully integrated—with 80% of students calling campus their home. To support students as they grow in independence, we offer a range of convenient resources, including:
  • Fun evening and weekend activities
  • Monthly birthday parties
  • Laundry services
  • Driver’s education

We all get to know each other beyond the classroom. These kids are so tight. They know me; they know my dog. We are a community. We care about each other.
