A new generation of Huskies test themselves against old rivals

After three contested matches the Huskies find the strength to equalize against Cardigan Mountain in the last minute.
Our Huskies traveled to Cardigan Mountain to take on KUA, Proctor, and Cardigan. The Huskies played defensively and worked patiently to neutralize KUA. After a long ball from midfield Gabe found himself with space heading towards goal but his efforts did not come to fruition as three of KUA defenders had to scramble to stop him. After a long fought battle in the middle and in defense, the huskies started to organize an attack. Bali and Curtis worked hard to find Max who in turn opened up to Jakob who dribbled 3 defenders on the wing and started to make his way towards goal. After a cross from Jakob, Joe and Gabe were unable to make contact to put the huskies ahead. KUA's effort on goal with met by Jeffrey, who showed leadership and incredible skills on goal to frustrate the opposition time and time again. As the game was coming to an end, the Huskies charged forward, taking control of the midfield. The Huskies on quick break from on the right wing had the best chance of the game. The shot was blocked by the goalkeeper, Gabe was denied of his second goal of season. The match ended in a tie, 0-0.

For the second match, the Huskies faced Proctor Academy. This match was made a physical contest by our rivals, nonetheless defender, midfielders, and attackers took on the challenge head on. Finn, Matteo, Bali, Marek, and Sean played with tenacity in the back as the fresher side of the two had their sights on Joe our goalkeeper. Joe showed great confidence on goal and as the minutes went by he settled and took control of the situation. The Huskies matched the Proctor's intensity and started to create elaborate plays. Jakob linked with Max on the Wing, Sean started to played on the opposition's half to provide support to the attackers.  Billy and Daniel also joined the attack. The approach employed by the Huskies started to pay off as the wingers Jakob and Billy started to find space to put the ball in the 18 yard box. With two minutes to go, from a corner kick, Daniel found Billy in the far post.  Billy was inches away from scoring as a Husky and give NHS the lead. The referee blew the final whistle, the final score 0-0.

For the final match, the Huskies took on the home side, Cardigan Mountain. The starting eleven gave way to Ollie in the goal, the defensive line remained unaltered, the only exception was Bali taking the responsibility and playing as a left back. Daniel started as a striker, Gabe as a left winger, and Jakob as a right winger. Cardigan came out red hot and started to test our defense. On a questionable call, the referee awarded Cardigan a penalty kick, consequently taking the lead. The Huskies reorganized and went on the attack. Sean, Max and Jakob started to put a string of passes together on the right side. Their efforts flourished as Jakob dribbled past two defenders taking a powerful shot to and scoring his first goal as a Husky. After the goal the Huskies grew in confidence even though the squad started to show signs of fatigue. The game became a back and forth, mostly fought in the midfield. Cardigan started to create chances, mainly coming for the left wing. Bali stood strong time and time again and Ollie showed strong hands as a goalie. As the Huskies defended a corner kick, Proctor took a 2-1 lead. The Huskies were determined to leave everything on the field. Jakob took a chance on goal, Gabe moved to the striker position, and the whole defense moved up to the midfield line. Max lead the charge along with Daniel and Joe. The Huskies fought hard for every ball to keep possession. In the last minutes of the game, Max and Joe moved up as right winger and attacking midfield. After Sean challenged and won possession, the ball made its way to the right side of the field. Joe and Finn linked up on the attack, Max dibbled past on defender. Having great vision, Max assisted Gabe. Gabe leaned his body back 35 degrees making perfect contact with the ball, burying it on the upper left side of the net with a minute to go on the clock. The goalkeeper had no chance. Now with a score of 2-2, the Huskies keep pressuring as the tide had turned in their favor. The final score was 2-2.
