Men's JV B Soccer took on KUA for the team's home opener, winning 7-1.
Men's JV B Soccer showed up on gameday fired up and ready to take on the always physical and competitive KUA soccer squad. It did not take long for NHS's offense to find its groove and start stringing together passes deep in the offensive side of the field. Four minutes into the game, Song Rausenbach '28 made a strong cut move to beat his defender and sent in a strong cross from the corner to Max Moore '27 who set up Ryan Suarez '28 with a gentle pass for an easy goal. At 18' Jakobi Little '28 sent in a cross that was deflected by a KUA handball inside the penalty box setting up a penalty kick. Jakobi drew the foul, so he earned the shot and made the most of his opportunity after driving the ball to the back of the net. Jakobi kept up his offensive production four minutes later, sending a cross to Left Wing Joe Dietrich '28 who showed great touch and finesse with a one-touch shot to the left corner of the goal, extending the Huskies lead. Two minutes later, Daniel Gomez '28 dribbled his way into the box and was fouled hard, drawing the second penalty kick of the game. He picked himself up, shook off the hit, and buried the penalty kick hard into the top-right corner completely out of reach of the goalie. The Huskies went into halftime with a 4-0 lead, both teams began the second half with a goalie switch, with NHS sending Joe Dietrich between the pipes and giving Ollie Jenkins '27 a chance to rest after a strong showing in the first half. KUA was able to break their drought at minute '41 in the game despite strong effort by Joe in front of the net. Four minutes later, NHS's offense surged and Jakobi earned his second goal of the game from the top of the 18. Andrew Sells '28 would have scored his first goal of the season a few minutes later if not for the stellar hustle play of KUA's goalie, but it is only a matter of time before he finds himself celebrating his first goal! Midway through the second half, Gabe Oulette '27 drew the third penalty kick of the game. Gabe lined up his shot and placed it just out of reach of the goalie, earning his first goal as a Husky. As the minutes waned, Jakobi snuck his way through the defensive line and intercepted a pass at the top of the 18, settled the ball, and placed the ball perfectly to the far post, earning an impressive hat-trick. Shortly after, the final whistles were blown and the Huskies left the field with an electric 7-1 victory.
