New Hampton Wins at Proctor
New Hampton took to the road again on Friday night for another Lakes Region League matchup at Proctor Academy. In front of a great crowd from both the hosts and visitors, the two teams would play a well-contested match with chances going both ways.
New Hampton would get on the board first, with Heidi Smith converting a first half penalty to put the Huskies up 1-0. Despite strong pressure and numerous corners, New Hampton would have to hang on to the one goal lead going into the half.
In the second half, much of the game was contested in the midfield with New Hampton's rotation of Katie Usilton, Merritt Fitch, Clara Thompson, and Adriana Romano-DiTella helping maintain the lead.
With Proctor's backline and goalkeeping proving hard to break down, New Hampton would have to work to maintain the 1-0 lead and see out the game for a win on the road.
Going the full 80 minutes for the shutout, the defensive unit held strong in front of Danika Virgin's net for New Hampton's sixth shutout of the season.
