The Huskies hosted the Proctor Academy Hornets on a beautiful fall night under the lights on Kennedy field. The Huskies fan section was in full force, energizing the frosty air and infusing the New Hampton players with renewed vigor. Th environment and excitement showed as New Hampton came out hot and put the pressure on early. They showed a commanding presence in the midfield and shut down any offensive opportunities proctor had. The Huskies got multiple great looks at the net but were not able to put one away. New Hampton seemed to take their foot off the gas part way through the first half and now it was Proctor's turn to apply the pressure. The Hornets long driven balls began to break down the Husky defense and they eventually capitalized on some chaos in the box and were able to slip one in the back of the net to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Huskies regrouped at halftime and once again come out flying. Their relentless pressure provided even more chances but the Huskies were still not able to finish. Time was not on their side and with 10 minutes to go New Hampton shifted into a 3-5-2 for one last ditch effort to put one into the back of the net. This coaching decision paid off as the added numbers up front allowed Tanner Keenan to slip in behind the Hornets defense and deliver a beautiful cross across the box to a wide open Noah Stevens who headed it top left to tie the game at 1-1. New Hampton stayed with their new formation and continued to apply pressure but time was not on their side and they ended with a 1-1 tie. It was a great night under the lights and a fantastic effort from both teams. The Huskies look forward to next week where they have 3 big games in 4 days.
