Huskies can't finish chances and fall to talented Vermont team
The Huskies hosted a talented Vermont academy team on Kennedy field this past Saturday. The Huskies had a chance early when Tanner Keenan found himself alone on a breakaway but was unable to capitalize due to a timed close out from the Vermont keeper. New Hampton then found themselves on the defensive side of the ball as Vermont demonstrated their technical ability and took control of the possession battle. The Huskies hung on thanks to many blocked shots and a great save from Harry Jenkins and went into halftime tied 0-0. The Huskies came out strong in the second half and had two great scoring opportunities that they were unable to capitalize on. The missed opportunities took some wind out of New Hamptons sails and the relentless offensive attack from Vermont began to wear down the Husky defense. Eventually Vermont was able to break through and sneak a shot past Jenkins to go up 1-0. They followed that up with another 2 goals to finish the game with a final score of 3-0 in favor of Vermont Academy. Harry Jenkins saved another penalty kick and is now 2-2 on the season in 3 games.
