Men's Varsity B Hockey Falls Short to Maine Mariners in Home Opener

The Men’s Varsity B Hockey Team opened their season up with a home contest against the Maine Jr. Mariners. The huskies opened the scoring with a goal from Muzzey Goodwin. Goodwin found an opening in the slot when a loose puck came his way. The Mariners soon responded to tie the game at 1-1 going into the half. The first period and a half showed to be a defensive battle from both teams.

After coming out to finish the period the huskies let in two quick goals to turn this game into a 3-1 deficit. Going into the third period, the huskies continued to chip away when Lucas Gangi scored to cut the Mariners lead to 3-2. Soon after, the Mariners responded to go up 4-2 with about 5 minutes left in the 3rd period. The huskies did not go down without a fight after pulling their goalie, James Debenedictis found the back of the net scoring from his knees with 15 seconds left. Although the huskies continued to fight, there was not enough time left in the period to tie the game.

The huskies fall to the Maine Jr. Mariners 4-3. The huskies will look to redeem themselves after Thanksgiving break against Winchendon.
