Although the final score might suggest a tough outing, the Huskies left everything on the field today, hustling hard for all 60 minutes. Middlesex came out strong, netting their first goal just a minute and a half into the game and adding two more before the end of the first quarter to take a 3–0 lead.
After a quick break, the Huskies regrouped and came out with renewed energy in the second quarter. They showed much stronger connections, quick steps to the ball, and great communication all over the field, holding Middlesex scoreless through the quarter.
At halftime, the team focused on tightening their defense, emphasizing strong marking in the circle, sticks down on 16-yard hits, and staying with Middlesex players step-for-step. Their coachability shone through as they implemented adjustments and stayed disciplined.
Middlesex struck again early in the third quarter, but the Huskies continued to battle, pressing on offense and staying flexible as players stepped into new positions to support one another. Lily Thomas and Lana Quong led some excellent offensive pushes, while Lola Gallo dropped back into midfield and played relentless defense. Cara Kuczek, Madi Hanson, Tricia Car, Kelsey Baker, and Emma MacPherson hustled end-to-end all game, working tirelessly to balance offensive pressure with defensive recovery.
On the back line, Kaya Farnsworth, Ella Fischetti, and Abby Schrader held strong, stepping to the ball and communicating well as a unit. Tova Yerardi, Kayla O'Connor, Emilie Poirier, and Katie Kavka brought energy off the bench, making the most of every minute on the field. In goal, Luna McCulloch stood tall and made several key clears to keep the Huskies in the fight.
Middlesex added one more goal in the fourth quarter, but the Huskies never let up, earning multiple offensive corners and continuing to create opportunities until the final whistle.
While today’s game ended in a 0–5 loss, the Huskies left the field with pride, knowing they battled hard, stayed positive, and learned valuable lessons that will carry into the rest of the season. Defending nine corners and only conceding one was a huge win for the Huskies’ defense. The team is eager to get back to work on Monday as they prepare for their first Lakes Region matchup on Wednesday!
