The Senior Game was unforgettable, with emotions high and energy even higher as the Huskies celebrated their seniors in the locker room before the game, took the W, and capped it off with a dinner organized by our amazing parents. Excitement filled the air, along with a few tears as the seniors prepped for their final home game, dancing their way through warmups. The ceremony was a heartfelt start to the day, recognizing each senior and the spirit they've brought to the team.
Taking the field with all seven seniors starting, the Huskies were determined to clinch a victory. Although the game began with a slow build-up, momentum quickly shifted about seven minutes in. The Huskies showcased some great passing and runs up the field, but the Bobcats’ goalie held strong, denying a few early shots. The second quarter saw more impressive opportunities from our side, including a thrilling moment when Julia Loughlin’s powerful shot passed the goalie, only for a Bobcats defender to stop it on the goal line. Despite our aggressive attempts, the first half closed scoreless.
During halftime, the Huskies regrouped and decided to adjust by using the wings more and enhancing communication. This paid off as an intense offensive corner soon led to a stroke call. Kennedy Walker stepped up with nerves and cheers all around, sinking the shot high and left into the top corner for a crucial goal and a surge of energy across the team.
From there, the Huskies took charge, advancing confidently upfield and playing relentless defense. Our defensive unit faced down a few corners with resilience, clearing the ball with low sticks and solid clears out of the circle. With just under nine minutes left, the Huskies earned another offensive corner. Kelsey’s flawless insert reached Cara, who sent it back to Kelsey; in the scramble, Julia managed to take a reverse shot that landed in the net, giving us a 2-0 lead. Although the Bobcats managed to break through on a defensive corner to make it 2-1 with two and a half minutes to go, the Huskies kept their composure, passing sharply and controlling the ball to secure the win.
It was a special night, made even more memorable by all who supported us. A huge thank you to our fans, the parents, and everyone who made Senior Night such a success. We’re looking forward to finishing strong in these last two regular-season games and eagerly awaiting our playoff position. Let’s go, Huskies!
