The New Hampton School Men’s JV B Basketball team traveled to Proctor Academy on a cold Wednesday afternoon and fell to the hosts by a final score of 72–35. While the scoreboard tells one story, the game itself reflected a much stronger and more competitive performance from New Hampton.
The first half was tightly contested and played with great energy. New Hampton came out firing, moving the ball well, rebounding on the defensive end, and getting back quickly in transition. The teams traded leads several times early, and New Hampton showed confidence and composure throughout the opening half. At halftime, Proctor held a 37–17 lead.
Offensively, Levi led the charge in the first half, knocking down two three-point shots. Steven added seven points with two baskets inside and a three-pointer, while Jerry and Marek each contributed two points.
Defensively, New Hampton played disciplined basketball, committing just one team foul in the first half.
In the second half, New Hampton continued to compete and play with physicality. Levi stayed hot from beyond the arc, connecting on three more three-pointers. Jerry added two strong finishes inside, Steven hit another three-point shot, and Marek once again contributed two points. As a team, New Hampton committed three team fouls in the second half.
Although the final score favored Proctor, the performance from New Hampton was one the coaches were proud of. The team played with heart, intensity, and toughness, especially in the first half, showing strong ball movement, defensive rebounding, and effort on both ends of the floor. It was a performance that demonstrated growth, resilience, and commitment to playing the game the right way.
