New Hampton Falls to High Mowing

The New Hampton School Men's JV B team faced High Mowing School on Wednesday, at home in the Frederick Smith Gymnasium, falling by a final score of 53–29.

High Mowing set the tone early, playing with strong intensity on both ends of the floor. New Hampton scored 10 points in the first half, while High Mowing built a 29–10 halftime lead. Levi led the offense early, knocking down two three-point shots in the first half, and Jerry added a three of his own. Defensively, New Hampton remained disciplined, committing four team fouls in the first half, while High Mowing finished the half with six.

The second half brought more balanced scoring from New Hampton, as the team added 19 points after the break. Levi continued his strong shooting performance, hitting two more three-pointers to finish with four on the night. Steven contributed four points in the second half, while Jerry, Marek, and Ethan Jiang each added two points. New Hampton continued to play under control defensively, committing just three team fouls in the second half. High Mowing recorded four team fouls after halftime.
Foul distribution remained even across the roster. Levi, Jerry, Declan, Gabe, and Ethan Jiang each finished with one personal foul, while Steven recorded two personal fouls.

Overall, the difference in the game came down to intensity. High Mowing consistently played with greater urgency, particularly on the defensive end. Their pressure defense immediately after half court disrupted New Hampton’s offensive flow, and their relentless rebounding effort created extra possessions. The game served as an important reminder of how effort, physicality, and intensity can strongly influence the outcome, regardless of the score.
