Huskies Take Down Dexter in Home Opener

New Hampton opened their season with a solid team win against a strong Dexter team. The Huskies got on the board early after a steal by Ava Perry led to a quick assist and finish by Chloe Dix. Dexter answered immediately, setting the tone for a back-and-forth battle throughout the opening quarter. The Huskies created separation midway through the first with strong ball movement and defensive pressure to take an 11–5 lead, but Dexter responded with a run of their own, and New Hampton entered the second quarter trailing by three.

Saige DeJesus provided relentless defensive intensity, creating turnovers and disruption, while Casey Stores knocked down key three-pointers. Strong minutes from DeJesus, Stores and O'Leary helped shift momentum.  New Hampton went into halftime holding a one-point lead. The third quarter continued to stay competitive, with both teams putting together small runs. Key finishes from Ngenda and Dix helped the Huskies take a three-point lead into the fourth.

In the final quarter, free throws became a major factor. New Hampton stayed calm at the line, making important shots in the last two minutes to secure the 76–67 win. It was a balanced effort from the group and a strong start to the season. Dix led the way with 17pts, while Lancaster was huge on the boards pulling down 13. The Huskies are back in action Monday when they take on Lakes Region opponent Proctor.
