Huskies Edge Hoosac in NEPSAC Quarter-Finals

Today, New Hampton School and Hoosac faced each other for the third time this winter. The two teams split in the regular-season, but the Owls edged the Huskies in the tournament seedings. Thankfully the Huskies did not have to travel all the way to Hoosick, NY again. Instead they played the first round of the NEPSAC AAA post-season tournament at Vermont Academy (neutral site), and the Huskies came away with a 61-51 win to advance to the semi-finals.

Elyse Ngenda and Serenity Lancaster combined to score all 17 points in the first quarter and were able to get Hoosac's post players in foul trouble early. Tahlia Pena and Shannon O'Leary had some key buckets in the second quarter to help give the Huskies a 31-25 advantage at the break.

Hoosac battled back in the second half and took a one-point lead with 3:45 left in the game.
Determined defensive efforts from Pena and Kitt Jones helped slow the production of Hoosac's talented guards and a commitment to rebounding from the entire team allowed the Huskies to clinch the victory and advance to the NEPSAC Semi-Finals.

New Hampton will face top-seeded Noble & Greenough School on Saturday, March 8th at 2:30pm at Nobles.
