The Huskies prevailed in a Lakes Region League match-up at Proctor this afternoon. New Hampton's transition game helped the Huskies build a 21-7 lead after the first quarter with Elyse Ngenda scoring 8 of her 12 points.
Proctor continued to battle, but the Huskies shot 8-for-16 from beyond the arc which eventually put the game out of reach for the Hornets.
Nine different players scored for NHS. Serenity Lancaster, Ngenda, and Casey Stores finished in double figures, and Tahlia Pena was close behind with 8. Ngenda dished a team-high 7 assists. Chipping in with 2 assists each were Pena, Lancaster, and Adriana Hernandez. The Huskies pulled down 40 boards. Lancaster led the way with 7 rebounds, and Ngenda and Ava Perry added 6 apiece.
The team was excited to welcome Michaela Mercier back to the court since incurring an ACL injury last winter. She logged some solid minutes and looked strong.
New Hampton (12-6) heads into a winter break until Tuesday. They will host Phillips Exeter Academy in a National Girls and Women in Sports celebration game on Wednesday, February 12th.
