Nobles Too Strong for New Hampton in Final Game of Nickerson Tournament

New Hampton exchanged buckets with Nobles early on, trailing just 9-12 after the first quarter. Elyse Ngenda '26 had a hot start and carried the offensive load for the Huskies. Senior Tahlia Pena knocked down 2 triples in the second period to keep the Huskies within striking distance at halftime.

A cold third quarter for the Huskies allowed the Bulldogs to build a significant lead. Christina Pham led the way for Nobles scoring 15 of her game-high 28 points. Both teams scored 13 points in the 4th with Ngenda, Pena, Serenity Lancaster '26, and Shannon O'Leary '27 all contributing, but it wasn't enough to mount the comeback the Huskies were hoping for.

New Hampton shot well from long distance in their first 7 games, but today's 3FG% was just 18% while Nobles shot 43.5%. NHS owned a slight advantage in 2FG%, however, the Huskies only had 6 opportunities from the line compared to 14 for Nobles, and the Bulldogs won the battle on the boards, 35-21.

The Huskies end 2024 with a 6-2 record and will enjoy a well-deserved holiday break before returning to action on January 10th with a home game versus Dexter Southfield.
