Huskies Put Forth Best Effort of the Year in Win Over BCA

Tim Tracy
The 2025-26 Varsity B basketball season has been a season of ups and downs for New Hampton. When they're playing well, they're capable of beating very good teams, but at times, they have played to their competition. Saturday afternoon, the team set the goal to end January on a path to becoming the team they know they can be, and they answered the call.

From the outset, New Hampton's energy on defense and on the glass were apparent. Although BCA struck first on a three-pointer from a nice offensive set, New Hampton looked poised and aggressive. Two Beau Millar free throws put New Hampton on the board, and it was off to the races from there.

What was a 5-2 BCA lead with 14 minutes left ended with a Jett Sizer three-pointer to tie it. At the next break, New Hampton lead 28-5. All starters contributed. Jett Sizer was hot from three, while Ryder Brainis lead the fast break. A Bruce Fa steal and dunk, and several shifty baskets from Beau Millar pushed the lead further, and Jasper Bias-Derry chipped in with a beautiful and-one bucket off of a Ryder Brainis pick-and-roll. Charlie Kaikow, JJ Jones, Henry Timbrell, and Landon Jones gave solid minutes off of the bench, and New Hampton sprinted into halftime up 47-25.

More than anything, the offensive output was spurred by solid defense and rebounding effort. In the second half, BCA rallied to cut the lead under 20, but never truly threatened the Huskies. Again, Beau Millar, Ryder Brainis, and Jett Sizer paced New Hampton offensively, and the game ended 74-54.

New Hampton moves to 8-5 on the season and now goes into their crucial February stretch run leading up to the MAISAD playoffs. New Hampton's next and final game before the long weekend will be at home on Wednesday versus a tough, physical Lee Academy team.
