Huskies Drop Road Game at Kents Hill to Split Season Series

New Hampton took the long drive up to Kents Hill on Wednesday for the second game in the season series against league-leader Kents Hill. The energy from both teams was apparent right away, and the teams traded baskets early on with New Hampton taking a 13-11 lead.
At the 10-minute mark in the first half, however, the momentum changed. Employing an aggressive 2-3 zone, Kents Hill got several key stops and two big run-out fast break baskets. Beau Millar, Jett Sizer, and Ryder Brainis, who had found success early in the first half against the zone, got some great looks from three that just didn't fall.
Just like that, New Hampton found themselves in a 30-13 hole. They battled back in the final three minutes of the half, and at the buzzer, Kents Hill had a commanding but not insurmountable 13-point lead.
The second half would see both teams play evenly and trade baskets. Again, the guard trio of Beau Millar, Jett Sizer, and Ryder Brainis carried the scoring load, with Bruce Fa contributing a basket. With 7 minutes remaining in the game, New Hampton cut the lead to 9 with a mini-run.
Unfortunately, that was as close as they would get. Down the stretch, Kents Hill made all of their free throws, along with a key three-point basket to keep the lead at double digits. In the end, Kents Hill walked away with a 75-60 win in a well-fought game.
New Hampton now returns to the friendly confines of Smith Gymnasium for MAISAD matchup with Brewster Academy next Wednesday.
