The New Hampton Varsity B team faced off for the second time against Winchendon. After a tough loss back in December, the Huskies were prepared for the Winchendon press. The contest was close early, with the Huskies taking a 5 point lead into halftime. The second half was a battle. Tough baskets by Sarp Oskan kept New Hampton within a possession, and Bruce Fa tied the game at 46 with a clutch three. Unfortunately, a series of offensive rebounds for Winchendon doomed the Huskies. When Harry Jenkins fouled out, the New Hampton defense was weakened, and Winchendon took advantage with a series of drives to the basket. New Hampton had the final possession down 50-48, but a tie up for the ball pushed the clock to zero and time ran out for New Hampton. Although it was a loss, it was a huge improvement against a tough opponent who had blown past the Huskies in the first matchup. New Hampton now looks forward to a chance to defend their home floor Wednesday against Bradford Christian Academy.
