Huskies Win Season Opener Against Elite 8 Champs

DEDHAM, NH --

The huskies kicked the season off on the road against last year's undefeated elite 8 champions. Both teams were ready for the start of the year, as both teams came out fast and physical. The first period had a lot of back and forth, but not a lot of shots for either team. Nobles opened the scoring at the 7:29 minute mark off a redirected shot form the point. 1-0 Nobles after the first. The huskies came out hard in the second a fought off some good chances in their zone. Goaltender Cara Kuczek '26 played very well, helping the huskies out of trouble. Julia Loughlin (JL) '25 tied the game at the 10:50 minute mark off of a pass from True Thompson '25 that sent her off on a breakaway and Julia finished with a nice shot. 1-1 going into the third. The huskies had their best period in the third, coming with everything they had at the Nobles goalie. Penalties got Nobles in trouble, as the huskies capitalized on 2 power plays to take a 3-1 lead. Addy Peel '27 scored her first goal as a husky off a powerplay snipe from JL. JL scored her second of the game, picking up a rebound in front. Cara had answers for each Nobles shot so far. Kelsley Baker '26 scored her first of the season off a pass from KK Michaud-Nolan '25 to take a commanding 4-1 lead with a little over 8 minutes to play. However, Nobles would not go easy, as they almost clawed their way back, scoring 2 goals to cut the lead to 4-3 with a little over one minute left. Cara and the huskies, however, fought them off to win their season opener 4-3 over Nobles. The huskies are back on the road on Saturday as they travel back down to Milton, MA.
