Huskies score 22 runs on 15 hits and improve to 5-1 in league play.
The New Hampton Huskies hosted Holderness School on Friday afternoon and right out of the gates, the Huskies proved that they were ready to play.

The Huskies scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning highlighted by a Dom Petkus homerun.  The Huskies increased their lead to 8-1 in the 2nd inning on a 2 run single by Finn Glidden.  After a tough 3rd inning that saw Holderness plate 15 batters and score 10 runs, the Huskies stayed focused and came out swinging in the bottom half of the inning.  New Hampton rebounded by scoring 9 runs of their own and blew the game wide open.  Derek Helledy homered in the inning driving in 2 runs and Kieran McNamara hit his 1st homreun of the season which drove in 3 runs.  By the end of the inning, the Huskies had stretched the lead to 17-11 and never looked back.  In the bottom of the 4th the Huskies scored 5 more runs to extend the lead to 22-11 and help secure a 10-run mercy rule victory.

On the day, Derek Helledy led the way going 3 for 4 with a homerun and 5 runs batted in.  Kieran McNamara went 2 for 2 with an homerun and drove in 3 runs.  Hayden Weeks, Ryan Carey, Finn Glidden, and Conor Griffin all collected multiple hits on the day.

Michael Athanasoulas started the game on the mound and looked dominant early on.  He struggled to find the strike zone in the 3rd inning and Finn Glidden came in for relief.  The hard throwing right handed stopped the Holderness rally and secured the win for New Hampton.

The Huskies have a tough week ahead with 5 games on the schedule.  They begin the grind on Monday with a home game against Tilton School.  First pitch is slated for 4:30 pm at Gnerre Field.
