New Hampton defeats Proctor Academy to earn their fourth league win of the season.
New Hampton traveled to Proctor Academy on Wednesday and was able to secure a 9-1 win.

A strong pitching performance compounded with a strong offensive attack and aggressive base running allowed the Huskies to improve to 4-1 on the season in Lakes Region League play.

Freshman Canyon Cochran got his first career start on the mound and was very sharp in his debut.  The right hander picked up his first career win pitching a complete game (7 innings), giving up just 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 6 Proctor batters.  Equally impressive was the defense behind Cochran.  The infield defense of Kieran McNamara, Ryan Carey, and Griffin Taylor, and Finn Glidden, made all the plays behind the freshman pitcher.

Offensively, the Huskies pounded out 9 runs on 10 team hits.  Hayden Weeks continued to swing a hot bat and went 3 for 5 on the day with 2 doubles and 3 runs batted in.  Derek Helledy had a bases clearing triple early in the game to get the Huskies on the board in the first inning.  Conor Griffin collected 2 hits on the day and Michael Athansoulas hit his first homerun of the season.

The Huskies will host Holderness school on Friday.  First pitch is at 4:00 pm at Gnerre Field.
