New Hampton Wins in Overtime in Class AA Matchup

On the second day of The Nickerson Showcase, the Huskies faced another Class AA team. Storm King shoots the ball well from the field, so the Huskies knew their defense and ball pressure had to be strong today. Casey Stores ’27 was an offensive weapon for the Huskies as soon as she stepped on the court, finishing with 26 points. Elyse Ngenda ’26 was active on the offensive boards, continuing to find ways to score. Having a few players in foul trouble allowed others to find more court time and step up for the Huskies. Ne’vaeh Buntley ’24 was a spark in the third and fourth quarters attacking Storm King’s defense, finishing with 17 points. Storm King’s guards were quick and kept attacking New Hampton’s defense and extended their lead to 12 points in the third. Ngenda turned it around in the fourth scoring 10 of her 20 points. Stores made some big-time shots, including a three pointer in overtime to clinch New Hampton’s comeback win. A gritty victory for the Huskies. Final score: 65 – 59.
